CASE STUDY: Secure Cloud Solutions for DHS Electronic Health Records (EHR)

DHS ICE relies on Qbase’s Software-as-a-Service Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP)-certified Cloud environment cloud environment to deliver, maintain, and enhance their managed service Electronic Health Records (eHR) system. For the first time, this automated software is able to create a complete longitudinal health record and to share data between ICE facilities including integration with laboratory, radiology and pharmacy. With Qbase IT support, the system spans 22 ICE detention facilities (21 Health Service Corps and 1 HQ) in the U.S., handles up to 4,000,000 detainee medical records per year, and processes up to 15,000 active detainees per day. The system provides for a robust commercial eHR that is used by nearly 1,000 health professionals in the law enforcement and commercial out-patient medical communities. It includes all facets of medical treatment workflows and interfaces with pharmacy, laboratory, dental, and radiology systems.  Qbase ensures the eHR’s ability to address Congressional requirements, benchmarking against industry standards, and improving overall health care delivery through its 24x7x365 monitoring with a 48-hour disaster recovery capability that provides big-data reporting.
