Qbase Appraised at CMMI Level 3

Reston, VA —Qbase, LLC, a Reston and Beavercreek, Ohio-based software products and services company, today announced its formal approval for the CMMI Services Level 3 certification, which will be in place for three years, administered by the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), which implements process improvement training and appraisal programs across all DoD and U.S. Government contracts.

“We are proud of our team for their efforts and commitment to getting this accomplished”, EVP of Qbase, Brian Nightingale said. “This will further enhance our resume for all future government proposals where these certifications are becoming more and more beneficial.”

One of five maturity levels in the CMMI, Level 3 is known as the “Defined” level and is achieved when an organization has successfully completed a Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) Class A appraisal, the most formal of the three classes of appraisals. To complete this appraisal, Qbase met all of the Appraisal Requirements, which focus on identifying improvement opportunities and processes that meet CMMI best practices.

At Level 3, Qbase meets the following process areas:

  • DAR – Decision Analysis and Resolution
  • IPM – Integrated Project Management
  • OPD – Organizational Process Definition
  • OPF – Organizational Process Focus
  • OT – Organizational Training
  • PI – Product Integration
  • RD – Requirements Development
  • RSKM – Risk Management
  • TS – Technical Solution
  • VAL – Validation
  • VER – Verification

To achieve maturity level 3, Qbase had to further develop the maturity level 2 process areas to establish consistency across the organization, as well as to achieve specific goals applied to each of the predefined level 3 process areas. Level 3 is a more detailed and rigorous achievement than that required by the previous two levels.

The CMMI Institute helps organizations discover the true value they can deliver by building capability in their processes. The Institute provides the tools and support for organizations to benchmark their capabilities and build maturity by comparing their operations to best practices and identifying performance gaps. Qbase received this appraisal level over the summer after undergoing a regulated CMMI training performance improvement process.
